History

The club began in 1896 as the High Park Golf Club in Toronto and moved to this Dixie Road site in 1907, taking the name Lakeview Golf and Country Club around 1910-12. Herbert Strong redesigned the course in 1921, with Stanley Thompson's firm likely doing the field work, and it hosted the Canadian Open in 1923 and 1934. Toronto Township leased it as a municipal course from 1956-57 and bought it in 1965; it is now run by the City of Mississauga and is a designated Ontario Heritage site.
