History
Businessman Nelson Davis built Box Grove Golf Club in the early 1950s beside the Rouge River in Markham. It had an 18-hole course, with nine holes in the valley and nine on the flat land to the north, plus a 9-hole par-3 course. IBM bought it in the late 1960s and ran it as a private club for its employees. In 1997 IBM sold the tableland to Minto, which built the Legacy housing development on it. The Town of Markham took over the valley holes, which are now played as the 9-hole Markham Green Golf Club, and Davis's stone clubhouse became a community centre.
