History
St. Andrews Golf Club opened in 1925 (some sources say about 1927) with an 18-hole course that Stanley Thompson designed and built on the old Cameron farm, east of Old Yonge Street in North York Township. It was later expanded to 27 holes, and Thompson's firm prepared the course for an exhibition match in July 1935. The course no longer exists: the land was taken by Highway 401 and suburban housing around Yonge Street, and the St. Andrew–Windfields neighbourhood is named after it.
