History

Businessman Nelson Davis built the course as the Box Grove Golf Club in 1950, on the Tomlinson property in the Rouge River valley. IBM bought it in 1967 and ran it as a private club for its employees, with an 18-hole course and a 9-hole par-3 course. In 1997 IBM sold the tableland part to Minto for the Legacy housing development, and the Town of Markham took over the valley holes. Those holes now make up the public 9-hole Markham Green Golf Club.
