History

Founded in 1875 by John Geale Dickson on the Mississauga Commons beside Fort Mississauga, it is billed as the oldest surviving golf club in North America, and the 1st, 2nd and 8th greens are said never to have moved. The Niagara Golf Club held the Niagara International in 1895, described as the first international golf tournament in North America. The course was later run by the Queen's Royal Hotel, was incorporated as an independent club in 1926 after the hotel ran into trouble, and became semi-private in 2007.
