History

The original Cedar Brae course opened in 1922 as Cedar Brook Golf and Country Club. It was a member-owned Stanley Thompson layout on about 160 acres of farmland in Scarborough, running from Markham Road west to Bellamy Road just south of Lawrence Avenue. Members bought the club's assets in 1935, it was renamed Cedar Brae Golf & Country Club in 1939, and it hosted the Canadian PGA Championship in 1940. The property was sold to developers in 1954 and the club moved to Steeles Avenue in the Rouge Valley. The old site is now suburban housing in the Cedarbrae/Woburn area of Scarborough.
