History

The original Humber Valley Golf Course was a semi-private course on the west bank of the Humber River in Etobicoke. It ran from the Humber sewage treatment plant north to King's Mill Park, and Stanley Thompson is credited with a 1921 design there. The course used the Humber Valley name until the mid-1950s. The name then passed to the municipal course that Metro Toronto opened farther north in Rexdale in 1958, on land bought from Summerlea Golf Club, and the old riverside site became part of the Humber River lowlands.
