History

Summerlea Golf Club was a golf course on the west bank of the Humber River in Rexdale, Etobicoke. Metropolitan Toronto bought 40.9 hectares from the club in December 1957 and opened the land as the public Humber Valley Golf Course in March 1958, its second municipal course. Metro Toronto renovated the course in 1992 for $1.25 million, adding new tees and greens, realigning fairways and installing irrigation. It is not related to the earlier semi-private Humber Valley course farther south on the Humber, which Stanley Thompson designed in 1921.
