History

Golf professional Harry Eve leased part of the McRae family's Cedar Hill farm in 1918 so he could build a course for public players, and the nine-hole course opened in 1921. He ran it until 1937. Harry Young then leased it until 1958 and added a second nine, and Lyle Barnes and his son took over the lease after him. The District of Saanich bought the land in 1968 and runs it as an 18-hole, par-67 municipal course, which has been operated by Lakeland Golf Management since 2022.
