History
The Halifax Golf and Country Club, which grew out of the old Halifax Golf Club at Gorsebrook, bought the Webb family's "Ashbourne" estate on Dutch Village Road (now Joseph Howe Drive) in 1922. Governor General Lord Byng hit the opening tee shot in 1923 on the Stanley Thompson-designed course, and all 18 holes were in play by 1925. The short par-67 course is still the club's Old Course, alongside the New Course it later opened in Fall River.
