History
York Downs, founded in 1922 at Bathurst Street in North York, moved in the spring of 1971 to a new 27-hole course on 16th Avenue in Unionville designed by Geoffrey Cornish and Bill Robinson, later updated by Thomas McBroom. Members voted in 2014 to sell the land to developers for a reported $412 million, and the club closed for good after the 2020 season. The site is being built over as residential subdivisions (Kylemore's Angus Glen South Village and Minto/Metropia's Union Village), with part kept as open space.
