History

Founded in 1891 as the Ottawa Golf Club, the club played first in Ottawa's Sandy Hill area and then on a 12-hole course north of Hull before moving to its present site in Aylmer (now Gatineau), where a Tom Bendelow course opened in 1904 and was later revised by Willie Park Jr. It received the "Royal" designation in 1912, hosted the first Canadian Amateur in 1895 and the Canadian Open in 1906 and 1911, and added the nine-hole Royal Nine in 1966.
