History

Quilchena Golf Club was founded in 1925 by a committee led by Dr. G.F. Strong, on land leased from the CPR in Vancouver's Arbutus Ridge area near King Edward Avenue and 33rd Avenue. It opened as nine holes in 1925, was officially opened in 1926, grew to 18 holes in 1927, and was redesigned by Jack Porter in 1938. After the CPR lease ran out, the club moved to Richmond in 1956. The old course land is now Quilchena Park, schools, the Arbutus Village shopping area and housing.
