History

Cataraqui was founded in 1917 on the western edge of Kingston. It started with six holes, had 13 by 1921 and 18 by 1925, and George Cumming was probably one of its first designers. Stanley Thompson was hired in 1931 to redesign the course on land that included the former Gravelle Farm; club professional Dick Green finished the work, and the new course opened in May 1933. Doug Carrick's firm has advised the club since 1993 and redid all the bunkers in a renovation around 2015.
