History
Tuktoyaktuk Golf Course was a remote golf course located on an island in the Beaufort Sea near Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories, within the Arctic Ocean. The course was operating by 1975, when photographs documented golfers playing and a clubhouse bearing the name “Midnite Swingers.” It was used by local residents and by oil-industry support-base staff during the summer, according to a 1982 environmental impact report. Government reports continued to list it as a community recreation facility in 1999 and 2011. Its opening and closing dates, as well as its number of holes, remain unconfirmed.
A large part of the island which contained the golf holes was lost to erosion in the 2000s.
