History

The course sits on farmland that Alfred and Jean Welch began buying in 1954; the family's farmhouse is now the clubhouse. A friend suggested turning the land into a golf course in the early 1970s, and the Welch family opened Metcalfe Golf Club in 1976. It is family-run and now has 27 holes, an 18-hole course plus a nine, on 8th Line Road south of Ottawa.
