History

Founded in 1906, Galt Country Club is the oldest golf club in the Waterloo Region. Its first nine holes were laid out on farmland along the Grand River, with Lambton professional Percy Barrett credited for the design. Around 1930 Stanley Thompson rebuilt the course and expanded it to 18 holes, and Ian Andrew later reworked several back-nine holes to bring them closer to the river.
