History
Rockway, once called the Kitchener Civic Golf Course, opened in 1935 to a Stanley Thompson design. It was the first public course in the Kitchener-Waterloo area and was built on the site of a former sewage treatment plant. The City of Kitchener owns and runs the 18-hole, par-70 course, where Moe Norman, Gary Cowan and Gerry Kesselring played, and twelve of its holes still follow Thompson's original routing.
