History

Westmount was founded in 1929 by members of the Grand River Golf and Country Club and officially opened in 1931 on a parkland course designed by Stanley Thompson. Land bought in 1958 allowed three new holes to be added, and the original opening holes became a practice area. The club hosted the 1957 Canadian Open and the 1990 du Maurier Classic.
