History
Windermere Golf & Country Club was founded in October 1919 by Toronto businessmen who spent summers at Windermere on Lake Rosseau. Its nine-hole course, laid out by George Cumming and built with Stanley Thompson, officially opened on August 4, 1920; three more holes were added soon after, and the course reached 18 holes by 1926. From 1972, under professional and general manager Jim MacLeod, more than a dozen ponds were dug and hundreds of trees were planted.
